A goal without a hard work is just a wish!!!

Standing in the subway yesterday night, I became transfixed by the three middle aged women in front of me. All in their early 40s, they were laughing and chatting, clearly looking forward to nice time out.

They sounded - and looked - happy and carefree. But what mesmerized me most about this trio was not their conversation, but their appearance: all three women were so fat. They were not chubby, but fat. And what struck me even more about these individuals was how obviously unconcerned they were about it.

Unfortunately, these women seem to have regarded as normal a dangerous and misguided message of body acceptance; they're fat because they eat too much and they don't exercise.

In this society it has become OKAY to shame people for being skinny, but to come out and say "You're fat. That is not healthy, you don't look good" is a kind of insult if not a disaster.

Yes, some men like "curvy" women, but when these women are still fit. Believe me, no one likes a fat woman.

It's time we stop hiding this issue, stop kidding ourselves that fat is good, because it is not. Not because celebrities and models are skinny but because fat is unattractive and unhealthy.

I am starting from myself

I am tired of hearing that I have a belly fat - the stomach. I don't like when after couple of beers my stomach gets so large, I cannot pull it inside and then someone reminds me: "You'll look really good just take care of your belly fat". I usually change the subject reminding them that I am 55 and I 'm okay with how I look... WTF!!! I mean, I see it, I feel it in yoga practice especially in finishing poses.

Pindasana pose is the worst for belly fat and the stomach is pressing me hard, I cannot breath properly.

I am 190 cm tall, 6'3". My weight is, as of this morning, 93kg (205 lbs) and officially, according to all standards I'm overweight. Now, I want to get rid of this 5 kg (10 lbs) of under the skin fat. I want to have my weight under 90kg (195 lbs).

I have learned the name of my enemy... subcutaneous fat. The visceral fat is very difficult to get rid of, almost impossible, so what I can do is to lower this fat that is lying directly under the skin. Subcutaneous translates to "under the skin." I still have about about 5 kg (10 lbs) of that fat in my stomach.

I know very well that to get rid of belly fat I need to have a healthy diet, no "white" stuff - sugar, potato, rise, bread, no all those tasty things I like to eat: tacos, wraps, pizza, croissants, pasta, rolls, muffins, pastries, bagels, buns, pretzels, doughnuts, cookies, biscuits, cakes, sweets, potato chips, batter, pastry, desserts, jams, dumplings, soft drinks, sodas and sugary drinks. It really sucks but lets try.

I'll do my best to cut those things from my diet but in this phase I would like to pay attention to stomach exercises. Daily ashtanga yoga is part of my life. Five to six practices a week, each practice is a half primary class, and I am going to add stomach exercises.

I'll be drinking more water (about 2 liters a day) and continue drinking ginger/lemon tea (1 liter a day).

My goal is to look like this guy bellow. I know very well that is not possible but only if I go a bit closer to that photo I will be satisfied. And I do know, a goal without a hard work is just a wish!!!

Wish me luck. 😓
