Life's not about expecting, hoping and wishing, it's about doing, being and becoming. It's about the choices you've just made, and the ones you're about to make, it's about the things you choose to do - today. It's about what you're going to do after you finish reading this. - Anonymus
My friend, I used to live my life without goals and expectation. Still, I don't except anything better than this what I have right now.
Have you ever set a goal, achieved it, became content? And then what happened?
After that you went looking for the next thing. It’s fascinating how quickly
your life adjust to searching. You get what you want and, soon enough, start
wondering for something else. You quickly adjust your fulfilled desires,
constantly creating new ones.... you always want more.
So it is
really very simple. You want more. People who have one million dollars want
ten, people who have a happy family want more happiness and people who have
fame want more fame. You are desiring more so you are always frustrated and
unhappy.
You spend a great deal of effort maintaining the illusion
of your life. You work very hard to make it as solid as possible and never
venture too close to the meaning of it. Otherwise you would see right through
it and find yourself looking into a mirage. If you pay close attention, you
may see your life for what it really is... the great illusion.
Everyone
around you work very hard to pull you into this living dream. You may get
counseling, take some medications, go to the movie, drink wine and talk
about spirituality and other high things or you may go to shopping spree...
Everyone around you will do all they can to help you maintaining your normal self. In an insane world of people sleep walking through an illusory life, being "normal self" means you have to be insane. You have to go around being hypnotized sheep.
And you suddenly don’t feel a connection to anything. Nothing gives you
pleasure. There is nothing to strive for, nothing you can get or experience to
fix it. The pointlessness of it all is so obvious and inescapable.
When
that happens, this world become a really confusing place to be. So where is
the problem? Why this depression happens? Is there a way out of this
meaninglessness?
Your problems come from your idea that the world
is true. You have imagined significance and you take the world to be true
because you want that you are true. You assume that if the world is true then
you are also true. This self-importance is the main reason for the feelings of
depression, sadness, emptiness and anxiety.
There is nothing true in this world. Impermanence is only permanent
"thing" here. The meaning of everything is the meaning you assign to
it. You are who you say you are, and your experience is what you say it is.
This is how you have to look at the illusions of life.
Take at
easy, slowdown and stop running after all this nonsense? Just like a mirage,
you run after that. One day you will stop, the sun goes off and the mirage
goes off. And you will feel so unlucky not getting the water. But the water
was never there. You want happiness from others, well, nobody can give you
that.
Unless you forget yourself, you won't be happy.
